Dr. Valerie Caruso D.V.M. graduated from Oregon State University in 1989, then moved to northern California to work in the Yuba-Sutter area.  After six years at Marysville Veterinary Hospital, she purchased Kinship Veterinary Clinic, renaming it Companions Animal Hospital.  At home, Dr. Caruso has one dog, Julia a spoiled dachshund mix.  She also has two feline friends, Giuseppe and Bridget.  For rest and recreation she enjoys bicycling, running, hiking, and traveling.  She recently trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu, and has also gone on a sea kayaking trip. 

Dr. Shawn Duffy D.V.M. graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, and shortly thereafter joined Companions Animal Hospital.  She has several pets at home.  She is active with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butte County and has been matched to her "little" Shakilla for over two years.  She is an avid reader, and enjoys crafts and poker.  She is accompanied by her loyal dog Donagal Denver Duffy or Donny for short. Recently her soft spot for animals has lead her to adopt the famed Chubby and an other patient in need the tiny blind Kizzy.
